From Zero to 482 Monthly Clicks: Building a Plumber's Online Presence From Scratch
How we built a plumbing company's entire online presence from scratch. 43 pages, 51 blog posts, 8.3x click growth. The full build story.
New Website Walkthrough
A Red Seal Plumber With Zero Online Presence
Anil Nagi had a plumbing license, a gas ticket, a small team, and zero online presence.
No website. No Google rankings. No blog. No location pages. Nothing indexed. When someone in Kitsilano searched for a plumber, Dript Plumbing did not exist as far as Google was concerned.
That is a specific kind of problem. It is not "we need to improve our rankings." It is starting from an empty folder. And for a Red Seal plumber running a legitimate operation with 4+ team members, two offices, and 24/7 emergency service across Vancouver, that gap between the real business and its online visibility was costing real money every day.
We built the entire thing. September 2024 to now.
What We Started With vs. Where It Stands Now
Before (Aug 2025)
- 58 monthly organic clicks
- 45,600 monthly impressions
- 2-3 clicks per day
- ~20 indexed pages
- No location pages
- No blog content
- Google Business Profile unverified
After (Mar 2026)
- 482 monthly clicks (8.3x growth)
- 202,174 impressions in 3 months
- 5-8 clicks per day
- 43 pages + 51 blog posts
- 2 location pages (Fairview, South Granville)
- Blog publishing 2x per month
- 7 queries ranking on page 1
The Rebuild
The Website, Before and After
43 Pages. 51 Blog Posts. Every One Has a Job.
The site went live September 2024 on WordPress and Elementor. But launching a homepage and a contact page is not a web presence. A web presence is what happens over the next 12 months when you keep building.
22+ Individual Service Sub-Pages
Not a single "Services" page with a bulleted list. Every service Dript offers has its own page: slow-draining sinks, video camera inspections, sewer backups, drain maintenance, tankless water heater installation, boiler installation, hot water issues, heating problems. Each one targets a different search query. Each one has unique content.
Location Landing Pages
Fairview and South Granville, published December 2025. These are not template-swapped city name pages. Each one references the neighbourhood, the type of housing stock, and the specific plumbing problems common in that area.
Blog Content (51 Posts)
Our SEO team writes and publishes them. Topics like "why is my toilet bubbling when the tub drains" and "disadvantages of radiant floor heating." Long-tail, informational queries that homeowners actually type into Google when something goes wrong in their house.
Supporting Pages
A rebates page covering BC Hydro, FortisBC, and CleanBC programs catches homeowners mid-research. A careers page signals professionalism and attracts candidates. A quote request page with ReCAPTCHA prevents the spam submissions that were flooding the old form.
Page-One Results for a Site That Did Not Exist 18 Months Ago
| Query | Position | Impressions | Clicks | CTR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| dript plumbing (branded) | 3.6 | 27 | 11 | 40.7% |
| clogged drain deep in pipe | 4.5 | 2,557 | 8 | 0.31% |
| toilet bubbling when tub drains | 2.4 | 141 | 2 | 1.42% |
| garburator meaning | 3.1 | 363 | 1 | 0.28% |
| disadvantages of radiant floor heating | 8.5 | 29 | 1 | 3.45% |
Position 2.4 for "toilet bubbling when tub drains." Position 3.1 for "garburator meaning." These are page-one results built purely through content, site architecture, and consistent publishing. No backlink campaigns. No paid link building.
The Site Is Ranking. Searchers Are Not Clicking.
Most case studies would stop at the numbers above and call it a win. 8.3x click growth. 202,000 impressions. Page-one rankings.
But look at "clogged drain deep in pipe." Position 4.5. Top half of page one. Google showed that result to 2,557 people in three months. Eight clicked. 0.31% CTR.
At a 2% CTR (modest for a position-4 result), that single query produces 50+ clicks per month. We are getting 8. That is roughly 42 clicks per month left on the table. From one query.
Across the whole site: 202,174 impressions. 482 clicks. 0.24% CTR. Average position 16.2.
This is a meta title and description problem. Not a content problem. Not a ranking problem. The titles and descriptions showing in Google are not giving searchers a reason to choose Dript over the nine other results on the page.
This is the next frontier. We have done the hard part (building authority from zero, earning page-one positions). The optimization work now is about converting visibility into clicks. Fixing the top 10 highest-impression, lowest-CTR pages could add 100-200 monthly clicks without publishing a single new page.
Four People Built This Consistently
This was not one person. Four people worked on Dript consistently:
- SEO Lead: keyword research, blog strategy, content writing, on-page optimization
- WordPress Developer: built every page, implemented CTAs, handled forms and technical fixes
- Technical Optimization Specialist: site performance, plugin management, hosting optimization
- Project Manager: task tracking, Asana management, coordination across the team
Chasen managed the strategy, client relationship, and the audit work. The execution happened because these four people kept publishing, fixing, and building week after week.
Frequently Asked
How long does it take to build an online presence from zero?
For Dript, we launched the site in September 2024. Meaningful click volume (50+ monthly clicks) started appearing around August 2025, about 11 months later. That is typical for a new domain in a competitive local market. The honest answer: expect 6-12 months before organic search becomes a consistent traffic channel.
Why are impressions so high but clicks so low?
The CTR gap. Dript's average position is 16.2, which means most queries show the site on page 2 or late page 1. But even the page-one queries have low CTR because the meta titles and descriptions are not optimized for click-through. The site is visible. The listing copy needs to be more compelling. This is a fixable problem and the next phase of work.
Does Beazy only do website design or also ongoing SEO?
Both. For Dript, we built the website and run the monthly SEO program: content publishing, on-page optimization, and GSC monitoring. We also manage Google Ads. This integrated approach removes the coordination friction most agencies create.
